Lebanon: Vulnerability Assessment of Syrian Refugees (VASyR) 2025

The 2025 Vulnerability Assessment of Syrian Refugees in Lebanon (VASyR) is the thirteenth annual survey assessing the situation of Syrian refugees in Lebanon, identifying changes and trends in their vulnerabilities. In the context of Lebanon’s prolonged socioeconomic crisis, the assessment provides essential needs‑based estimates to inform humanitarian response and planning.

Sudan: Multi Sectoral Needs Assessment (MSNA) 2025

The Multi‑Sector Needs Assessment (MSNA) was conducted between July and September 2025 to identify the priority needs of refugees and asylum‑seekers in Sudan and to inform planning for the 2026 Country Refugee Response Plan.
UNHCR implemented the assessment across 12 states, covering more than 3,000 households and approximately 14,000 individuals. The findings will help supporting and planning a more targeted, coordinated, and evidence‑based humanitarian response.

Cameroon: Socio-Economic Profiling Survey 2024

This dataset originates from a socio‑economic profiling survey conducted in the West Region of Cameroon, focusing on internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities. It captures key dimensions including demographics, living conditions, security, employment and livelihoods, housing, documentation, family reunification, social cohesion, civic participation, access to justice, and future intentions of IDPs.

Research using data from the Library

Examining the impact of food security and accessibility to healthcare services on chronic disease risk among Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh

This report by Rizwanur Rahman, Fatema Afrouse, Md. Saiduzzaman Pulak, Md. Rabiul Karim, Mehjabin Haque and Mohammad Afshar Ali investigates how food security and healthcare access affect chronic disease risk among Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. Living in the world’s most densely populated camps, 95% of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh rely entirely on humanitarian aid.

Using data from the UNHCR 2020 Joint Multi-Sector Needs Assessment, the researchers found that food security reduces the risk of chronic illness by 35% while living more than 15km away from a clinic increases the risk of chronic disease. The study reveals that in forcibly displaced context, structural factors such as food adequacy and clinic location can be more critical drivers of chronic disease risks rather than individual traits like age or gender. These findings provide policymakers and humanitarian actors with evidence for targeted interventions related to nutrition and mobile healthcare to manage public health of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.

Advancing forced displacement and statelessness statistics through open‑source training

Hosted by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) in Nairobi, The Expert Group on Refugee, IDP and Statelessness Statistics (EGRISS) convened an in‑person validation meeting to refine a jointly developed Capacity Development Package. The meeting brought together 23 participants from 17 National Statistical Offices, regional bodies, and international organizations. Supported by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), the face‑to‑face format enabled in‑depth peer learning, validation of training modules, agreement on a publication timeline toward June 2026, and initial discussions on a future Training of Trainers programme to scale capacity development across regions.

The Capacity Development Package is being developed in phases, with the first phase covering statistical inclusion, the three international statistical frameworks, key data sources, coordination mechanisms, data protection, and SDG monitoring. Built around the International Recommendations on Refugee (IRRS), IDP (IRIS), and Statelessness Statistics (IROSS), the modular resource is designed for in‑person delivery and complements existing tools such as the Compilers’ Manual and E‑learning Course, allowing countries to adapt the content to their policy and operational contexts.

By strengthening NSOs' capacity to identify, measure, and include refugees, internally displaced persons, and stateless persons in official statistics, this initiative contributes to more inclusive statistical systems, expanded data coverage, and greater availability of microdata and statistics.
