How has your personal style evolved over the years?
I don’t buy everything two times too big anymore. My style is still rather masculine in the day but I’ll take risks with an evening look – I allow for a more feminine and sexy energy with skirts, dresses and heels.
What would you wear to have your portrait painted?
I wouldn’t wear anything, apart from a pair of Rothy’s ballet flats.
Your best fashion investment?
My spring/summer 2003 Alexander McQueen leather-belted chiffon skirt, which makes me feel beautiful every time that I wear it.
An outfit from history that you would like to own?
I’d just take all the jewellery from the 1930s to the 1950s. I love lots of gold and unique stone settings, especially if made in Italy.
A necessity in your beauty cabinet?
The Step 1 Bioglycolic face cleanser by Jan Marini.
A trend that you would resurrect?
I do love the Y2K look of a skirt or a dress over trousers.
A song you play to feel motivated?
“This is the Day” by The The. I listen to it anywhere – in the shower, while I’m sewing, in the car or at the gym. It always puts me in a good mood.
What is your hidden talent?
I can make a fabulous fire.
A scent that evokes a special memory?
Diorissimo. My mum has worn it ever since I can remember and it reminds me of her.
A place that never fails to inspire you?
Sitting on top of a hill and taking in a magnificent view. I’m a sucker for a sunset.
Tell us your idea of a perfect afternoon.
A long lunch that becomes an early dinner.
Something that you would like to make more time for?
I have started learning French and Spanish but I would love to put my head down and speak both fluently one day.
The best advice that you have ever been given?
Everything in moderation – including moderation.
