SAINT PATRICK'S DAY
March 17th is the day everyone is Irish in America. Wearing green, eating corned beef & cabbage, & drinking Guinness are a few of the traditions that evolved from the first parades in the USA celebrating the death of the missionary credited with spreading Christianity to Ireland. Ever wonder how a solemn religious holiday became a day of partying & god forbid...green beer? Read "How the USA Appropriated Saint Patrick's Day" here.
IRISH WHISKEY of the MONTH
Paddy's has been one of the best-selling Irish whiskey brands for a century. Patrick J. O'Flaherty, who sold the whiskey for 40 years, was beloved for his charm, wit, & conversation as he traveled from pub to pub selling the brand. In tribute, they named the brand after him, changing it from Cork Distilleries Company Old Irish Whiskey. That's almost more of a mouthful than this great blend of all 3 styles of Irish whiskey. COCKTAIL of the MONTH
The Paddy's Day Sidecar is our March cocktail of the month. Please, please, don't succumb to green beer for Paddy's Day. You can instead get your green fix with this twist on a classic cocktail. This orange liqueur based cocktail is sometimes thought of as a sweeter version of a whiskey sour. See the full recipe & how to make on our website here.
IRISH PUB of the MONTH
The Kerryman is our Irish Pub of the Month for March. Located in Chicago's River North Neighborhood, it provides a perfect spot for your Saint Patrick's Day festivities.
