IRISH WHISKEY of the MONTH
What better Irish whiskey to feature in the month celebrating Halloween? The Sexton is the #1 selling single malt Irish whiskey in the USA. It is easy to spot on store shelves with its funky, dark glass, hexagonal bottle design, and skeleton with a top hat logo. Triple distilled and aged for around 4 years in sherry casks from the Bushmills distillery. Sexton means custodian of sacred objects and also gravedigger. Bottled at 40% abv and widely available in the USA for ~$30. See our IWSA whiskey review here.

The Black Rose is a Boston institution. Four decades of celebrating Irish culture with great food, Guinness pints, music 7 nights a week, and of course whiskey. The Boston Globe dubbed it "the Fenway Park of Irish pubs" which makes sense given its exterior paint color. This Green Monster has hosted visitors from around the world but remains a local Boston pub. It even hosted an Irish Whiskey Society America tasting event several years ago.

LIQUOR STORE of the MONTH
We venture down to Fort Lauderdale, Florida for our October liquor store. Primo Liquors has a large inventory of Irish whiskies amongst other spirits and wines. They ship bottles to 41 states across the USA which greatly expands their reach. Their wide range of Clonakilty offerings helped facilitate the IWSA's virtual tasting event last year.
Have a favorite local liquor store that features Irish whiskey? Let us know here so we can tell everyone about it.

The Pumpkin Fright is our October cocktail of the month. Despite its name this one is not scary to make as it puts a festive twist on an Irish Old Fashioned. Thanks to Tullamore DEW Irish Whiskey for the image and recipe. Check out the details and steps here on our website.
You can treat yourself for Halloween without dressing up by acquiring the new Irish Whiskey Society America cocktail set to make this drink while carving pumpkins and handing out candy.
