GET READY TO DROP CHUTES TRAIL!
Ready to take on the Singletrack Searcher challenge? The first trail we're tackling is none other than the infamous Chutes Trail in Santiago Oaks Park.
Get ready to experience one of OC's classic singletrack downhills that starts with the "Waterfall" that will definitely test both your skills and suspension settings.
While this is technically called "Chutes Ridgeline", most riders refer to this trail as just "Chutes". Drop in off the top of Barham Ridge trail and prepare for a .75-mile downhill singletrack rip.
Check out Trailforks to get an idea of what to expect. But keep in mind, we've been getting a ton of rain lately so check with the parks to ensure the trails are open.
A WORD OF CAUTION
The Villa Park Dam (Orange County Flood Control District) will be releasing water at a rate of 100 CFS starting February 28th. Water levels of Santiago Creek will rise downstream and may cause the creek crossings inside the park to become impassable. Historic Dam Trail, Pony Trail, and portions of Santiago Creek Trail may be inundated. During the release period, these creek crossings will be closed, and there will be limited access to trails from the front of Santiago Oaks (Windes Drive).
And remember that this challenge will go on for months to come, with new trails added along the way. So take your time and have fun exploring and creating routes to include this destination trail.
