In the world of rod wrapping thread, one name has always stood apart from the rest - Gudebrod. Over 150 years of manufacturing, USA Made, stunning, vibrant colors, heck even after most of thier colors were copied by companies that went overseas, they kept their color numbers.
We had a lot, but we started running out. We heard that the family (LeGrande) that owned and operated Gudebrod for 150+ years still had the machinery, a factory, the original color formulas, and more importantly the person (William) who was in charge of the rod thread business before Gudebrod sold their Medical division, and most of the family retired - was not opposed to making thread again.
There's nothing like a call from Gary Loomis, with "the industry needs you" - "we need you - Make Thread in America Again.
Today, we are excited to announce the return of this iconic brand. The name did not change, because the processes, the raw materials, and the people behind it remain the same.
The colors/sizes selected and offered represent the favorites of Rod builders (some of who are no longer with us) over the last few decades. Yes, more colors will be added, but for now, join us in celebrating renaissance of American Made thread, on a day that celebrates American Labor.
