Our Favorite Tablescape This Month
Our collector and friend Matilde Ferri – who’s also a talented producer and creative director at Erg Media – included a variety of our Goto tumblers in the stunning setting she designed for Gérald Genta early this June. Celebrating Genta’s love for art, cars, and design, the event took place at Fondation Maeght, in Southern France, and featured a 44 seater tablescape surrounded by Joan Mirò’s sculptures.

Saalhof 1123’S Heart of Glass Was the First Laguna~B-Themed Exhibition
Jean-Claude Freymond-Guth opened Saalhof 1123 in Basel just a few months ago, and it’s already a must-go destination for those in town. Half art space and half boutique, it’s located in a tranquil area at a walking distance from the art district. During Art Basel’s opening week this month, Saalhof 1123 inaugurated Heart of Glass, an exhibition conceived around Laguna~B’s craftsmanship and history. The show includes selected pieces from our classic collections, as well as some of our artistic commissions and collaborations, like Marie Méon and Harold Bérard’s Murano Upcycling and Francesca Albergo’s Pleasure Dance.
Shout out to Jean-Claude for curating the exhibition! (...And to S.P.A. winery for providing delicious natural wine at the opening.)

The Universal Photographer
Book tip by Alessandro Trevisan
This month’s reading was picked by Alessandro Trevisan, our in-house photographer and head of content.
The Universal Photographer by Anne Geene and Arjan de Nooy was published in 2018 by Rotterdam-based Uitgeverij de HEF. It collects the work of a fictional photographer called U., who lived from 1955 to 2010 and whose work spanned all kinds of styles, subjects and themes. The result is a “pseudoscientific” publication serving as an “encyclopedia” of photography but also chronicling the personal life story of a universal photographer. “U.’s work may well be an invitation for even more photos,” one of the authors claims.
“The Universal Photographer appeared to me as a natural extension of Susan Sontag's On Photography and David Campany's On Photographs, which are tightly related to each other. With thousands of everyday, anonymous photos, this book proves that the history of photography is mostly made up of pictures that are not beautiful, not exhibited, nor shot by a famous person.” Alessandro said.
The B~Library is an exciting Laguna~B side project. It is a book collection curated (and continuously updated) by @studio.bruno located at Spazio, in Dorsoduro 3276, Venice. Anyone can borrow any book every day from 10 AM to 7 PM. Come and visit!

One week ago we hosted the launch of The Mudflat Crew – our latest publication with Vital – at our headquarters in Venice. The book, written and illustrated by Pietro Leddi, celebrates the lagoon’s wonders and fragilities. During the presentation, the author signed copies of the book, and two ornithologists shared insights about the local bird species that inspired the story.

Our Connection to the Lagoon
Giants of the Lagoon is a participatory experience that invites to explore the lagoon environment in a movement towards the observed subject: from the observation of the landscape, through the use of binoculars, to the search of the smallest elements that can be found in the soil thanks to a magnifying glass. A suggestion to emphasize the value of each individual element in relation to all the others in a holistic view. In its second year, Giants of the Lagoon, initiated in 2023 as part of WaterLANDS (GA 101036484) and developed by WahV ETS, has expanded, involving 13 classes from 3 secondary schools in the Venice area, who participated in various field activities discovering this extraordinary environment. A final exhibition at Palazzo alle Zattere in June presented original materials created and collected throughout the educational project, including drawings, photographs, soil chromatographic analyses, maps, and illustrations.
