The Perfect Birthday Party
Celebrations for our 30th anniversary – that took place at our headquarters in Palazzo Brandolini a couple of weeks ago – were huge. It was a massive private party reuniting friends, family and many newcomers invited to enter our world for the first time, a tribute to our founder Marie’s famous 90s home parties.
There were princesses, stolen glasses, and fabulous outfits – a couple of guests were even sporting our new t-shirts made in collaboration with Maccapani. The cheerful atmosphere was occasionally sprinkled by some touching moments; a few tears were shed as some of Marie’s friends found their letters or greeting cards on display in the Archive.
The menu’s main drink was the Bull Shot, a Russian cocktail made of beef broth and vodka, served alongside more classic options in mixed Laguna~B tumblers. “You are so brave, serving drinks in your own precious drinkware!” was a frequent comment. Yes, we were. As anticipated, some glasses ended up broken, and others lost. But what’s better than being surrounded by people casually using – thus truly enjoying – your own creations?
In the Palazzo’s hallway, a totemic installation conceived by Accurat served as a data visualization of the Goto’s history, showing how many pieces were produced each year from 1994 to the present day. A lagoon-inspired sculpture by Simone Carraro – one of our favorite local artists, who created it specifically for the event – stood out in an intimate garden area.
If you missed the event – but even if you haven’t – you can find Giacomo Bianco’s beautiful, vibrant photographic account in the Creative Commissions.

Laguna~B Custom Glasses at Chanel’s Table
Another very special night took place last week, among the buzz of the Venice Biennale opening. Hosted by Chanel to celebrate the French Pavilion and its representative artist, Julien Creuzet, the dinner reunited “the crème de la crème of the art world.”
We designed and produced custom drinkware for the occasion, a Chanel-inspired series of clear Murano tumblers with daisy black and white murrine. Read Vogue’s account here.

A Sunday Dinner Chez Livia
On Sunday before the Biennale opening week, our friend and curator Livia Nervi hosted “an evening of good food and great company” at her home in Venice. Her goal was to create a truly convivial moment to enable genuine human interactions and creative conversations outside the tight schedule of official events.
Livia furnished her table with a mixed selection of Laguna~B tumblers – including the Goto, the Filigrana, and different variants of Berlingots– encouraging every guest to pick the glass they felt most represented by. The event was documented by photographer Umberto Santoro.

Book tip by Giacomo Covacich
This month’s reading tip comes from Giacomo Covacich, designer, librarian, and curator of the B~Library with his studio bruno.
Published by InOtherWords in 2021, softspot is a fragmented collection of thoughts, field notes and stories by curator James Taylor-Foster and design studio OK-RM. The volume comes in three identical copies: you’re invited to keep one and gift the others as you wish. “The most inspiring part of this project is the underlying idea that you make a purchase only to share it right away. softspot has the power to generate new relationships and amplify the spreading of its content, because you can gift it to someone you know, but also to a complete stranger,” Giacomo said.
The B~Library is an exciting Laguna~B side project. It is a book collection curated (and continuously updated) by @studio.bruno located at Spazio, in Dorsoduro 3276, Venice. Anyone can borrow any book every day from 10 AM to 7 PM. Come and visit!

Our Connection to the Lagoon
‘The Mudflat Crew’ is a publication by VITAL created by Pietro Leddi. It’s inspired by the exploration of VITAL’S pilot sites, by the richness of the lagoon ecosystem, and by Venetian folk stories and legends. It’s designed to make people more mindful of the Lagoon, and to trigger curiosity especially among the younger generation, offering humor for readers of any age. In the final section, the publication provides scientific and historical insights connected with the story. Copies have been printed in Italian and English. Details of the public presentations and distribution will follow shortly. To learn more about this project, read the interview with the author on the Vital website.
