Da Arturo Part II: An Ode to Our Favorite Restaurant, Vini Da Arturo
A new chapter of our publication, Da Arturo, has finally arrived. Last year, we visited Vini da Arturo – one of Marie’s favorite spots in Venice – to document the making of the famous vinegar-soaked Braciola All’Arturo. The publication (recipe included) was an ode to our friendship with Ernesto Ballarin, chef and founder, and Hani Benjamin, owner, who have fed locals and celebrities in their tiny restaurant for over 50 years.
This time, we returned to Ernesto’s kitchen to photograph the making of another seasonal staple, the Pappardelle al Radicchio, and to collect the original recipe. Over Da Arturo’s wooden tables, a rich selection of mixed Berlingot glasses stands out.
Da Arturo Part II, printed in a limited run of 350 by Tipografia Toffanin, will be unveiled tonight at our headquarters in Palazzo Brandolini.

Archiving Marie’s Heritage
We’re excited to begin our collaboration with Promemoria, the only Italian firm specializing in “enhancing heritage” and building archives for major companies, institutions and fashion maisons like Bulgari and Versace.
Together with Marta Dell’Era – a IUAV student who’s passionate about archives – we spent days digging a multitude of documents, letters, and photographs out of Marie’s first Laguna~B office, inside her Venice apartment in Palazzo Brandolini.
Promemoria will join us in Venice next week to review and select the material, laying the foundation of our historical archive.
Stay tuned to our Archive Stories this March and be the first to see the archive gems as we unveil them. 👀

Book tip by Giacomo Covacich
This month’s reading tip comes from Giacomo Covacich, designer, librarian, and curator of the B~Library with his studio bruno.
Emergence Magazine publishes an annual print edition featuring a collection of essays, interviews, poems, adapted multimedia stories, and photo essays exploring the connections between ecology, culture, and spirituality. Volume n°4, a recent addition to our Library, is called Shifting Landscapes: “Within you’ll find stories of changing rivers and migrating forests, blurred boundaries between human and animal, geological landscapes that reveal human histories, and prophecies that weave themselves into the land.”
The B~Library is an exciting Laguna~B side project. It is a book collection curated (and continuously updated) by @studio.bruno located at Spazio, in Dorsoduro 3276, Venice. Anyone can borrow any book every day from 10 AM to 7 PM. Come and visit!

Our Connection to the Lagoon
Exciting fieldwork and analysis by Giovanni Timossi and associates are underway concerning lagoon insects, especially endemic species like the nocturnal Barena moth. In Venice, a lot more is known about salt marsh flora, mammals, birds, amphibians, and reptiles than insects, even though this category is fundamental for the ecological equilibrium in any type of natural environment. Functions include pollination of flowers, and in the food chain, insects are primary consumers as well as nourishment for other animals. They are also needed for the breakdown of organic materials and aeration of soils.
