This lot of coffee is processed at the West Arsi washing station operated by Tega & Tula. It consists of the JARC varietals 760, 762, and 764. Interestingly, JARC is an acronym for the Jimma Agricultural Research Center, where this varietal was researched and developed. Over the years, since 1967, JARC has introduced 42 coffee varieties tailored to different regions of Ethiopia. The JARC varietal in this lot embodies the classic flavors that we cherish from Ethiopian terroir, with abundant notes of blueberries, sweetness, and floral qualities.
Situated in the Sidamo region of Ethiopia, Tega & Tula's West Arsi Washing Station is widely recognized for its production of exceptional coffee. Nestled in the highest reaches of the Kogne mountain in West Arsi, this station is surrounded by pristine wild forests and the meandering Hodum River.
What truly distinguishes Tega & Tula is their unwavering commitment to sustainable farming practices and their support for the local communities in the area. They provide valuable employment opportunities for local residents and invest in critical community projects such as the construction of schools, roads, and health clinics. Additionally, Tega & Tula actively promotes climate-smart farming education programs and distributes disease-resistant coffee seedlings to empower and uplift their community members.
