We are thrilled to share that our eagerly awaited coffee from Brazil has finally arrived! Our fresh crop from Fazenda Santa Lucia features the Yellow Catuai varietal, where the cherries turn yellow when fully ripe, as opposed to the traditional red. This unique coffee has a rich chocolate flavour, low acidity, and is the perfect choice for a comforting cup.
Helcio, the producer of this exceptional coffee, has been working with coffee since he was just 15 years old. In 1976, he married Glycia Pereira Carneiro and began managing Fazenda Santa Lucia. At the time, there was no focus on coffee quality, with volume being the only concern. Access to knowledge, technology, and market information for specialty coffees was non-existent.
However, in the 1990s, Helcio was among the pioneers of the Aprocam movement - The Association of Coffee Producers from the Mantiqueira Region - which aimed to improve the quality of coffee in the Carmo de Minas region. This group of producers sought the expertise of scientists and experts to learn more about producing high-quality coffee on a large scale. The experts introduced them to the Pulped Natural Processing Method, which Helcio was quick to adopt, making him one of the first growers in the region to do so.
Through Helcio's dedication to quality and pioneering spirit, Fazenda Santa Lucia has become a leading producer of specialty coffee. We are proud to partner with him and bring his exceptional coffee to our customers.
