Good Morning,
I hope this finds you all in good health.
We change lives everyday but for the Veterans that we help, these supports are far from an everyday thing. Transitioning to civilian life can be a real challenge for Veterans and their families. They are moving from a world that has been their life for years or even decades, into a society whose rules are different from the Forces, whose job requirements are different, which might require retraining and which requires Veterans to navigate a very different system to access services and supports.
This past week, members of our Command Service Bureau were able to help a Veteran who was experiencing a host of challenges like the ones above and they had all culminated in him finding himself homeless. In the space of just a couple days, the Service Officers and other Command office staff were able to secure an apartment with emergency rent support close to the physical and mental health services that the Veteran needed. While it has only been a few days, the Veteran is in a better place and can continue on his journey to a better life.
This is what the Legion does, every day. We change lives.
You have helped to change this Veteran’s life.
