Something is approaching on the horizon... Is it jingle bells and Christmas lights?
This issue of Copenhagen Unfolded is written by Emil who is the SoMe-manager of VisitCopenhagen's Instagram and Facebook accounts. November has always had a special place in his heart, as it is his birthday month!
Halloween is over, the leaves are almost completely off of the trees and the Christmas spirit is starting to spread in Copenhagen, on the radio and on the supermarket shelves. In this edition of Unfolded, we'll dwell on both the final stage of autumn and slowly look forward to Christmas confectionery and Santa hats.
We will look into:
- #TinToCPH
- The Danish Championship in Gløgg/mulled wine
- The return of a legendary ice rink
- November shoutouts
Do you have an old Danish cookie tin hidden at home? If the answer is yes, you better dig it out!
We've launched a pretty wild competition where you can win a trip to Copenhagen with almost everything covered.
A four-night stay at the boutique hotel Nimb, two return flights to Copenhagen, two Copenhagen Cards that covers all four days and a dinner for two at the holistic two-Michelin starred Restaurant Alchemist 🤯

THE DANISH CHAMPIONSHIPS IN GLØGG
When the calendar says November, Christmas is almost inevitable. And luckily, there are plenty of cosy and Christmassy activities around the city, even though it's not quite December yet. If I could only choose one, I would go to the Danish Championship in Mulled Wine, or "gløgg" as it's called in Danish, in Torvehallerne on 17th November.
At the (unofficial) Danish Championship in gløgg, Copenhagen Distillery, ARK, Gløggonauterne and others compete against each other to serve the best mulled wine, bringing their own recipes and putting them to the test. Come and warm your hands and cheeks and feel the early Christmas spirit.
Each participant is ready with 15 litres of hot mulled wine - and it's free to taste their brews. But there will be a lot of people waiting in line, so remember to bring warm clothes and a good mood. You can read more about the event here or check out our guide to the best mulled wine in Copenhagen below.

LEGENDARY ICE SKATING RINK IS RETURNING
Full disclosure: I'm not much of an ice skater myself. But I think it's incredibly cosy to go with my girlfriend or some friends and tumble around on the ice. That's why I'm really looking forward to seeing what the ‘new’ 1,300 square metre ice rink at Kongens Nytorv will look like. I'm sure it will kick off the Christmas and winter season with a bang.
The ice skating rink encircling Krinsen on Kongens Nytorv was last set up 16 years ago. Now, this iconic Christmas tradition returns to Copenhagen.
The first skates will hit the ice on November 15, and the rink will be open until December 31.
See you on the ice - and let's cross our fingers that it doesn't turn into Bambi On Ice. If you need inspiration for other winter activities in Copenhagen, you can read much more on VisitCopenhagen.

Christmas is coming! And if you're one of those people who just can't wait to get started with the Christmas activities, check out Copenhagen Visitor Service's event calendar. Here you can see the big overview of Copenhagen's best Christmas events.
If you're looking for a real dose of Christmas cheer, then a trip to Tivoli Gardens is a must. Their Christmas season starts on November 15 and continues until January 5 and is a perfect trip - for the whole family - if you need to get into the Christmas spirit for real.
And finally, here's a little local lifehack. It has been decided that some of Copenhagen's cultural institutions will have free admission every Wednesday until October 2025. This applies to:
So go and enjoy some culture in the November darkness ❤️
I hope you have a wonderful November in Copenhagen with mulled wine, Christmas energy and cultural experiences. I'm certainly looking forward to the æbleskive-season to begin 😋
But remember that these are just my recommendations. We, at the editorial team, are just as interested in hearing yours, so feel free to write if there's anything you feel we've missed.
We will be back in next month with more to come and all the best from Copenhagen.
