It's finally autumn again - the most beautiful time of year, with the fallen maple leaves in golden reds, browns and oranges.
This edition of Copenhagen Unfolded is written by Andrea, VisitCopenhagen editorial assistant. She will guide you through romanticising the arrival of this amazing season through nature, gastronomy and culture.
Autumn is a season that calls for both cool indoor and outdoor experiences, which Copenhagen is full of all year round, but extra cosy when the weather gets a little cooler. I want to take long walks in nature, look for cosy bars and restaurants, and step up my cultural activity level. For example, it's finally time for Culture Night again - Copenhagen's biggest annual one-day event. You should read all about below 😉

MAGIC AND DIVERSITY ON CULTURE NIGHT
Once again this year, you can experience the city from a whole new perspective on Culture Night, which this year falls on 11 October, the Friday right before the autumn holidays. It's a magical evening where the streets are filled with light and life and around 250 organisations invite locals and visitors behind closed doors to celebrate the diversity of culture in Copenhagen.
The experiences on Culture Night range widely, so no matter your age or interests, there's sure to be an adventure tailored just for you.
Maybe you dream of seeing the the royal family's white horses and the historic carriages up close. Maybe you're curious about how a prison looks from the inside. Or maybe you dare to try out traditional Danish folk dancing to live music. Buy a culture pass and explore the programme on Culture Night's website.

AUTUMN HIKES AND COLOUR EXPLOSION IN THE DEER PARK
In October, I want to take as many walks in nature as possible so I can take in the amazing colour palette of autumn. And what better place than in the Deer Park, which is only a 20-minute train ride away from Copenhagen.
The Deer Park is filled with forest areas, small lakes and open plains where you can enjoy your own company - or you may be lucky enough to be accompanied by one of the more than 2000 free-roaming wild deer that live in the area.
I simply love the colours of autumn. The golden, burnt orange and deep red hues of the treetops are like something out of a 90s romantic rom-com (my favourite movie genre). A walk through the Deer Park at this time of year is a beautiful visual experience. Consider bringing a cup of coffee or hot chocolate to add to the autumn cosiness. There are plenty of cosy places to eat in the area around the Deer Park if you need a delicious meal after your walk.

LĭQUO - SOCIAL WINE BAR IN CARLSBERG BYEN
The chilly autumn weather is also a reason to look for cosy bars and restaurants where you can enjoy good food and drinks in a warm indoor setting.
I live in Vesterbro, close to Carlsberg Byen, where I look forward to going out to eat. In the centre of the area, right next to the green area, J.C. Jacobsens Have, the wine bar Lĭquo has opened. I really want to go there in October.
Lĭquo specialises in Italian wines from all 20 regions, great drinks as well as small plates, cheeses and other delicate snacks - a menu that I think serves as a nice contrast to the autumn atmosphere and weather.
By the way, keep an eye on their Instagram and website for announcements of wine tastings and other social events from time to time. I hope to see you there.
Another event that characterises October in Copenhagen is of course Halloween. And the world-famous Tivoli celebrates it with a big bang every year. Whether you're a child or an adult, the theme park's programme is packed with activities (both fun and scary) for you. I'm definitely planning on going.
There are also a lot of special cultural offers in Copenhagen during the autumn holidays. For example, several museums have extended opening hours and organise special activities. And autumn is the perfect time of year to visit museums.
For example, SMK has a Baroque theme this autumn. Here you can experience a dramatic and sensuous exhibition about Europe's Baroque history. Or you can try your hand at sculptures and other creative activities in the workshop - perfect for families with children.
That is what my August is going to look like, and i'm looking very much forward to it.
But remember, these are just my recommendations. At the editorial office, we're just as interested in hearing yours, so please let us know if there's anything you feel that we've missed.
We’ll be back in a month with much more on all the best of Copenhagen.
