August is here, and it's time to enjoy nature, culture and a splash of history to the fullest.
This issue of Copenhagen Unfolded is put together by Kasper, the editor of VisitCopenhagen's digital channels. When he's not busy being digital, he loves to explore the city with open eyes and ears - preferably on a bike.
There's still plenty of sunshine to soak up (with the right amount of sunscreen, of course), and this time we're taking advantage of the good weather to take a trip to the eastern parts of Copenhagen, namely Tårnby and Dragør.

NATURE EXPERIENCES ON TWO WHEELS
I've never been secretive about the fact that I think the bicycle is one of mankind's greatest inventions and it covers a fairly large part of my transportation needs around Copenhagen. In August, I think I'm going to do some extra kilometres in the saddle - without going nuts, of course.
I'm looking forward to a bike ride across Amager Nature Park to Dragør, preferably without too much headwind. In terms of nature, there are a few different things to experience as you pass through bird sanctuaries, a beautiful birch forest, coastal landscapes, etc. You can also walk the famous Amarminoen to Dragør (27 km) if you prefer hiking shoes rather than bicycle wheels.
There are also plenty of other great routes to drive around Copenhagen, and of course we have some nice and detailed route maps for you.
There's something about the old town of Dragør that is truly unique. It's a kind of time warp that takes you back to the 1700z-1800s, but the cool thing is that it's not a museum but a real town where real people live. Also why you shouldn't go and press your nose against the windows of people's private homes.

Switch off your phone, put your hands in your pockets and stroll around whisteling among the ochre-coloured houses, hollyhocks, cast iron pumps and "kikkenborge". Cars are banned in the old town, making it all even more authentic and special.
Dragør has a very special history involving Dutch immigrants, seafaring culture and a very special self-perception. And when you've soaked it all up, I recommend a good lunch at Traktørstedet Gabriel Jensen, a café overlooking Oresund.
You all know the feeling of discovering something exciting that has been under your nose all along. Meet Kastrupgårdsamlingen, a museum specialising in modern graphic art.
The exhibition Kolossal, centred around large-format graphic works, is currently running. Artists such as Olafur Elisasson, Bjørn Nørgaard, Tacita Dean, and Nina Marie Klevian are exhibited here. I had a sneak peek of it earlier this year, but I will definitely be back to deeper with the works.
In addition to the exhibition, Kastrupgaard has a collection of 7.000 graphic works by primarily Danish artists. If you like graphic art, Kastrupgaard is an overlooked gem and a must visit.
Copenhagen has plenty of great city festivals, and I'm going to make good use of that in August, including Syd for Solen, which brings great international artists to the city, and Uhørt, which focuses on brand new Danish artists. Both are definitely worth considering.
And to stay in my own neighbourhood (almost), I think I'll make a virtue of stepping over to BaneGaarden just to hang out on a bench with my legs crossed and a stemmed glass in my hand. We're talking summer vibes here.
That is what my August is going to look like, and i'm looking very much forward to it.
But remember, these are just my recommendations. At the editorial office, we're just as interested in hearing yours, so please let us know if there's anything you feel thatr we've missed.
We’ll be back in a month with much more on all the best of Copenhagen.
