"The quartz of my winter-frozen heart must melt at the sight of it, on the first day of March." These are the words, translated from the original text, of Danish author Kaj Munk's poem The Blue Anemone from 1943, where the anemone flower symbolises the very first signal of Spring.

This issue of Copenhagen Unfolded is written by Andrea, who is an assistant on VisitCopenhagen's digital channels. When she's not busy analysing poems for her Master of Arts in Danish Literature at the University of Copenhagen, she's exploring the capital of Denmark – and what better season for this than Spring, when the sun rays feel like a long-awaited kiss from the sky.

This March, I'll be going on the scenic Coastal Line railway route, moving through the seaside destinations. The Spring inspires me to head out of the city, where cultural experiences and beautiful nature await.

THE COASTAL LINE - AN EXPERIENCE IN ITSELF
A train ride along the Coastal Line, that stretches from Copenhagen to Elsinore, is not only beneficial for those who need to move from a to b. I see it as an experience itself, and more so a very beautiful one. With the sparkling sea on one side and beach villas on the other, you can just relax and enjoy the views with your favourite music in your earphones.
Any journey with no planned stops becomes more free, spontaneous and authentic. Of course, this also applies for the Coastal Line! Who knows if you'll suddenly want to stop in Klampenborg to soak up the Spring air with a walk in The Deer Park, or maybe you'll drive all the way to Elsinore to see Kronborg Castle, UNESCO World Heritage and famous from the Shakespeare play Hamlet. Remember that you can save money on both attractions and transport in Copenhagen and Beyond with a Copenhagen Card.

ART, ARCHITECTURE & NATURE AT ORDRUPGAARD
If you're the type who thrives better on a bit of planning, we’ve got you. If you're looking to feed your cultural cravings, your walk through the Deer Park can lead you to a visit at the art museum Ordrupgaard. A walk from Klampenborg St. to Ordrupgaard through the park is approximately 30 minutes. You move a little away from the coast and further into the country, but the museum's green surroundings contrast beautifully with the blue of the sea – so you get the best of both worlds.
Ordrupgaard Museum is a dreamy place, if you appreciate art, architecture and nature coming together. The museum is known for its large collection of Danish and French art and for its unique architecture, including the world-famous Finn Juhl House.
Ordrupgaard also organises events ranging from themed tours to writing workshops and conversation lounges. Read more about what you can experience at the museum in March here. And remember, a Copenhagen Card gives you free entry to this attraction and many more.

BEACH HOTEL & COASTAL SCENERY
Elsinore, the last stop on the Coastal Line, is more than Kronborg, although the castle stands out beautifully in the sunny Spring weather. The city is filled with stunning coastal nature and a unique maritime cultural history. We like to say that you can almost feel the past in the wind and in the air, when visiting Elsinore.
Do you want to welcome the season in grand style? Check out the area’s beach hotels. Here, you can relax completely and wake up to a completely still Sound or some roaring waves. And if you’re up for an adventurous trip in the outdoors, we’ve made an overview of the best walking and cycling routes around.
For me personally, early Spring is a time, with the sun and brighter days, that makes me want to get out more and experience different things. I have two specific things on my programme this March.
I want to share a good bottle of wine with my boyfriend at Vins du Levant, a cocktail and wine bar in the heart of Copenhagen that specialises in wines from Palestine, Syria and Lebanon. Their wine menu is something else than classic grapes that I know, and they insist on intimacy and the storytelling of a unique glass of wine.
I would also like to visit ARKEN to see the first solo exhibition of the Danish artist Frederik Næblerød. His works range from paintings, ceramics, drawings, bronze to large installations and are all characterised by humour and absurdity. The exhibition is called ALL WALKS OF LIFE and I look forward to seeing it.
Spring is coming and I'm so ready to seize it! I hope you are too, and I hope my recommendations are a small step on the way.
But remember, these are just my recommendations. At the editorial office, we're just as interested in hearing yours, so please let us know if there's anything you feel thatr we've missed.
We’ll be back in a month with much more on all the best of Copenhagen.
