The holidays may be over for some, but summer is far from over. August is one long party - and you're invited.
Late summer in Copenhagen means long, bright nights with cold drinks under the open sky, the last refreshing dips in the city's harbour baths and festive events in the urban space that unite people across all sorts of differences.
This issue of Copenhagen Unfolded is written by Andrea from the Visit Copenhagen editorial team. I want to inspire you to feel the late summer pulse of Copenhagen through recommendations that will make you taste, hear and feel the city while it's still buzzing with summer vibes and life. We'll be covering the following:
- Sunsets and open-air dining
- Late summer dips in the harbour baths
- Copenhagen Pride: Love, protest & confetti
- August specials

SUNSETS AND OPEN-AIR DINING
You don't have to go south to experience a magical tropical night where the temperature invites you to linger outside in the late evening hours. It happens in Denmark too! And what better place to enjoy such evenings than in Copenhagen, where the city is overflowing with outdoor cafés during summer.
When it comes to the great outdoors, you can pick and choose from almost any neighbourhood. Almost everywhere you can find authentic places to enjoy the long, bright late summer nights.
I have several favourite spots. For example, Autopoul in Nordvest, which is an old car mechanic workshop where you can now enjoy natural wine in white plastic chairs. Or Lunden in Nørrebro, which has a real Copenhagen courtyard vibe. And the sure winner, Enghave Plads 9, where you buy your drinks in a small window and then find your own spot in the cosy square, which is also a popular metro station taking you to trendy Vesterbro.

LATE SUMMER DIPS IN THE HARBOUR BATHS
f you love to go swimmming (like me), you'll know the urge to go as soon as the weather allows it. So this August, I'm going to savour the last of the warmth, the last rays of sunshine, and get in as many dips as possible.

And that's one of the reasons why I love living in Copenhagen - you can always go swimming because you're never far from one of the city's harbour baths or beaches.
I usually pack my backpack with a blanket, a good book, some snacks and my trusty crossword booklet. Then, I can easily make a whole day of (sun)bathing. My personal favourite will probably always be La Banchina on Refshaleøen. On the guide below you can get an overview of Copenhagen's best harbour baths and beaches.

CPH PRIDE: LOVE, PROTEST AND CONFETTI
As usual in August, Copenhagen Pride returns. It's definitely one of my favourite events. Pride week runs from 9 August to 17 August and culminates with the iconic Pride Parade on Saturday.
Throughout the week there will be exciting events, debates, workshops, performances and much more. The City Hall Square will be transformed into Pride Square with a stage where there will be concerts and drag shows throughout the week. You can see the full programme for Copenhagen Pride 2025 right here.
While Pride is festive and colourful, it's important to remember that you're celebrating a serious cause - a fight for rights, equality and visibility for queer people. Pride is not only a celebration, but also a political and activist statement that builds on decades of resistance, protest and community. It's important to celebrate with respect for those who have fought before us - and for those who are still fighting today.
Warm up for Pride with a tour of Copenhagen's many fantastic LGBTQ+ cafés, bars and discos. See our guide below.
August is generally a month when there's a whole lot going on in Copenhagen. Check out our event calendar to stay up to date with all the late summer happenings.
For example, Copenhagen Cooking from 15 to 24 August - the Nordic region's largest food festival where Danish gastronomy is celebrated through some really cool events. Flæsketorvet in the Meatpacking District will be transformed into a food lover's paradise.
If you're more interested in art than food, you can look forward to the Enter Art Fair at the end of the month. It's from 28 to 31 August. Here you can experience a lot of modern art from some of Scandinavia's leading and up-and-coming artists and galleries.
May your month be full of warm days, cool drinks and good people. Thanks for reading - see you in town!
But remember, these are just my recommendations. At the editorial office, we're just as interested in hearing yours, so please let us know if there's anything you feel thatr we've missed.
We’ll be back in a month with much more on all the best of Copenhagen.
