Wishing you and your dearest ones a wonderful holiday season and all the best in the year to come.

A Merry Christmas to all of you. With Christmas Eve around the corner, we thought you deserved a holiday greeting all the way from Copenhagen. We promise to share our favorite Christmas traditions, and we definitely won't allow you to enter the holidays without first wishing you all the best.

  • Spending Christmas as a true Copenhagener
  • Visiting Copenhagen during Christmas
  • The past year and the year to come

This greeting is all about Christmas "hygge". Therefore, we hope you are all snuggled up in your coziest holiday outfit with gingerbread cookies in one hand and our Christmas card in the other 💌🍪

You've made it to Copenhagen and Christmas is just around the corner. And now you might be wondering how to actually spend Christmas like a true Copenhagener? Luckily for you, we Danes are very homogenous when it comes to Christmas traditions, so you can actually find a very specific recipe for how to celebrate Christmas the authentic Danish way ⛄🎁

The short version is: Eat roasted duck or pork with potatoes and gravy for dinner, sing and dance around the Christmas tree (kid you not), open presents, and eat risalamande on the 24th. December 25 and 26 is all about Christmas lunches and great days to eat heaps of smørrebrød and drink loads of snaps and beer 🍻🎄

Are you one of the lucky ones, who get to stay in Copenhagen during Christmas? Well, we are not jealous cause we are here too, but we bet that your friends and family wish it was them 🎅😉

Copenhagen is truly magical and delightful in December and there are countless activities you can take part in during the holidays. You can try our delicious Christmas food, spend your early afternoons in the parks while drinking gløgg or just walk around the city and look at all the stunning decorations 🎄✨

For more inspiration on how to spend the holidays in Copenhagen, you can check out our guide to the Christmas Capital. But remember, that due to COVID-19, the cultural offerings of Copenhagen will be closed during Christmas. However, plenty of cozy cafés and restaurants are still open, there are ice-rinks to visit, and a New Year's Eve to celebrate! 🎇

This year we invited you to join us in experiencing Copenhagen from different angles. So far, we have explored the cultural scene of the city. We have complemented culture with nature, and we allowed ourselves to celebrate Christmas a little early.

Now Christmas is finally here, and we are beyond excited to exploit the holiday to the fullest. In the meantime, we are looking forward to exploring and sharing what Copenhagen has to offer during the Winter season. Honestly, we cannot wait for the year to come and show you around in Copenhagen 🎆❤️

So here we are, catching a glimpse of how to celebrate Christmas in a Danish manner, whether or not you are staying in Copenhagen this holiday. Nevertheless, wherever you are spending Christmas Eve, we hope that it will be full of love, magic, and cheer 🎄😍

All there is left to say is Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We absolutely can't wait to see you again in 2022!

We’ll be back next month with a lot more stuff about Copenhagen. We hope you enjoyed this fourth issue. If you did, or if you feel like there is room for improvement, we would love to hear from you. We’re here for you!
