With the reissue of Ruby Vroom by Soul Coughing, we travel back to the band's early days. Their debut album, released in 1994, was recorded at the legendary Sunset Sound Factory in Hollywood. Producers Mitchell Froom and Tchad Blake were true soundscape enthusiasts, and the story goes that a storage room near the studio’s lounge was filled with vintage keyboards and quirky toys—whistles, baby rattles, and children's toy xylophones. These playful elements can be heard on tracks like “Uh, Zoom Zip”.

First, we have the debut album from Wallice, The Jester. Also arriving this month is the reissue of The Easy Truth, the collaborative studio album by American hip-hop producer Apollo Brown and rapper Skyzoo. On November 1st, the London-based contemporary jazz collective Kokoroko will release a new EP. Nigerian singer Dizzy K, best known for his 80’s hit Baby Kilode, is releasing a follow-up compilation featuring tracks from his last three albums. This double LP highlights that iconic 80’s Nigerian boogie sound.
