In recent weeks, devastating tornadoes, storms and flooding have impacted communities across the country. Our hearts are with every person, pet and community facing loss, uncertainty and displacement.

During times like these, the safety of pets can quickly become at risk. BISSELL Pet Foundation is closely monitoring these events, and our Executive Director of Animal Incident Management, Eric Thompson, is in daily contact with state and national agencies. We stand ready to support shelters and communities as needs arise.

Moments like this are also a reminder of how important it is to be prepared. Having a plan for your pets, including identification, medical records, and emergency supplies, can make all the difference when the unexpected happens.

This May marks the 10th anniversary of BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters® adoption events. That’s 10 years of lifesaving second chances for shelter pets!

Since launching Empty the Shelters in 2016, we have partnered with 909 organizations across 49 states and Canada to help pets find loving homes. To date, these events have resulted in nearly 400,000 adoptions.

You made this possible. We are so grateful to the adopters, donors and animal lovers who have been part of Empty the Shelters over the past decade. Together, we have saved lives, increased foot traffic and awareness for pets in shelters, and inspired more people to choose adoption.

We’re proud to take the next step in expanding access to pet care.

Rising costs, a shortage of veterinarians, and long wait times are making it harder for families to get the care their pets need. That’s why BISSELL Pet Foundation, in partnership with the Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation, is launching Duffield Pet Wellness Days—a new initiative delivering vaccinations, preventive services and basic medical care to communities in need.

Through this program, BPF will contract with veterinarians nationwide and connect them with animal shelters to expand access, all at no cost to pet owners.

Together, we’re working toward a future where every pet, everywhere, can get the care they deserve.
