1. Control is an Illusion

“Fear of change comes from a lack of control. And even when you don’t actually have control, you hold onto habits that give you a sense of control.” The solution? Mindfulness, meditation, and trusting the process. After all, the only thing we ever know for sure is that “things are constantly changing.”

2. Less Steps = Less to Fear

Worried you might react negatively to an ingredient in your 12-step skincare routine? That’s a legit concern and one of the reasons many people are choosing to go the minimalist route. You shouldn’t have to play cosmetic chemist to understand how a product works. “Keeping things simple, transparent, and low-maintenance is the best approach.”

3. One Step at a Time

“It’s human nature to think ‘I can’t do this; it’s too much.’ We have this tendency to look at the big picture, and of course, that’s going to be overwhelming. It’s easier to break things down into pieces, and it’s just as valuable.”

4. The Problem With TMI

Living in the Information Age, we have so much information available at our fingertips at any given time. “You can end up not knowing where to look. It’s happening with skincare, too, which is why it’s important to seek out information that is authentic, meaningful, and purposeful.”

5. If It’s Broke, Fix It

Don’t let the fear of trying something new keep you from achieving your skin goals. If your current routine isn’t working for you, switch it up—slowly. “Take back the power and don’t let fear manipulate you into sticking with a routine that you don’t love.”
