Friends,
I am writing to share an exciting announcement: the founding of Emet Classical Academy, a Jewish preparatory school for 6th through 12th graders that will welcome its first students in Fall 2024. Emet will be based on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, and we will welcome Jewish students and families of every background and denomination.
Our first information sessions will begin this week—on Wednesday, December 20, and Thursday, December 21. Click here to register and learn more.
Why Emet, and why now?
- First, we wanted to create a school with very clear founding principles: the pursuit of excellence in every academic and cultural field, the formation of confident Jews and civic-minded Americans, and the preservation of the best of Western civilization. Our academic advisory board includes some of the finest educators and greatest minds in the world—such as Ruth Wisse, Walter Russell Mead, Leon Kass, Wilfred McClay, and Rachel Fish—and our curriculum and culture of learning will build upon two decades of Tikvah's experience educating exceptional middle school, high school, and college students. - Second, we are living in a moment of great Jewish awakening in America. Many Jewish families and students feel the weight of Jewish history and American exceptionalism more deeply than ever. We hope that Emet will be an oasis of Jewish excellence that helps renew American culture.
- Third, we believe that history's future leaders—in law and business, politics and statesmanship, science and religious life—benefit from a truly classical education. America needs a Jewish classical school.
Emet will be small and selective, seeking students with the intellectual curiosity, character, and drive to succeed in a culture of ideas.
We will open in Fall 2024 with an inaugural 6th-grade class and will continue to grow grade by grade into a full-service middle school and high school. We are also accepting applications now for rising 5th-, 7th-, 8th-, and 9th-grade students, and we will consider opening inaugural tracks in these grade levels in Fall 2024 if there is sufficient demand.
As Jews, we know that education is the only enduring way to preserve and perpetuate the highest things in life: family, nation, culture, progress. For this reason, Tikvah works closely with many wonderful Jewish day schools across the country in a variety of programs. We hope that Emet will be a meaningful addition to this community of learning.
Emet will stand for Jewish and American excellence. Emet will strive to be a light of Jewish clarity and courage amid the moral confusion now engulfing us. Emet will kindle the Jewish and American spirit.

With best regards,
