Letter from the AFSP-NCAC Board Chair

It's been an eventful few months for the National Capital Area Chapter (NCAC)! In the Spring, we hosted our second-annual Lifesavers Appreciation Celebration to honor our dedicated volunteers and celebrate NCAC's 2024 AFSP Chapter of the Year: Large Market award, followed by Paws for Prevention which raised more than $11,000 in support of our mission to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide!
Over the summer, we continued presenting AFSP's suicide prevention educational programs for the community and hosted events to kickoff the 2024 Out of the Darkness season for the Prince William, Loudoun, Fairfax, and Washington, D.C. Community Walks.
This fall, we have already hosted two Out of the Darkness Walks in Prince William and Loudoun and, on behalf of the AFSP-NCAC Board of Directors, I would like to personally thank all the volunteers, walkers, teams, donors, sponsors, programs participants, resource fair exhibitors, and everyone who supported and made these important community events possible!
As we look towards the remainder of National Suicide Prevention Month (September) and October, we still have two Walks to go! Please follow the links below to register to walk, give a gift, become a sponsor, or sign up to volunteer:

On May 18th, during Mental Health Awareness Month, the AFSP-NCAC hosted its second annual Paws for Prevention fundraising event in Alexandria, Virginia. Despite it raining cats and dogs, dozens of volunteers, sponsors, and paw-ticipants turned out for the event to fundraise, give, and learn more about AFSP’s important mission to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide and the important role our furry (and sometimes scaly) friends can play in supporting our mental health...
