AFSP Long Island Recognized with 2 Awards at Chapter Leadership Conference!
The Long Island Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention was presented with two of the top awards at the 20th Annual Chapter Leadership Conference on February 1, 2025 in Houston, Texas. With AFSP staff and volunteers represented from all 73 Chapters across the country, the Long Island Chapter received the #2 Top Fundraising Walk (out of over 400 Walks across the country) for the Jones Beach Out of the Darkness Walk and Chapter of the Year, Large Market.
These awards represent the dedication of the Long Island volunteers and community supporters who continue to engage in the work we are doing in the community and increasing our reach and impact. In addition to leading the way with fundraising, the chapter made significant increases in the number of educational programs we delivered and the number of volunteers trained to attend community events allowing us to reach deep into the community. We offered support to suicide loss survivors through our Healing Conversations program and International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day, as well as a Paint to Heal/Sail to Heal event. Our advocacy efforts remain strong with volunteers attending Advocacy Action Days in Albany and Washington D.C.
The Long Island Chapter continues to be a strong example of what can be achieved with a volunteer driven organization when we work together to form partnerships, start conversations, educate, and break barriers associated with asking for help. Together we continue to make an impact and save lives. We welcome individuals, corporations, and community groups who want to work alongside us as we continue our mission to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide.

Team Fundraising Opportunity: Discount Pass
Want an easy way to raise funds for your team? AFSP LI has partnered with Digital Discount Pass to provide teams with digital coupon cards that you can sell to your friends and family to raise money towards your walk team! All you have to do is share the QR code with friends and family and encourage them to purchase a pass for $20. They scan the QR code, enter their information, enter the seller's name, and purchase the pass. They will receive digital coupons to local shops and restaurants and your team will receive a percentage of the sales. You can share the pass digitally or we can mail you physical copies of the postcards to share. This is a great opportunity for workplace break rooms! See the image below for some of the discounts included in the pass! For questions or to receive physical copies of the postcards, contact Carrie Aronson at caronson@afsp.org.
