Papa Roach and Carrie Underwood Collaborate on Song to Benefit AFSP

In 2023, Papa Roach re-released their song "Leave a Light On (Talk Away The Dark)" in collaboration with AFSP for the Talk Away the Dark campaign. The band and their lead singer Jacoby Shaddix have been voal advocates for suicide prevention and mental health awareness, often dedicateing the song to late Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington, who died by suicide in 2017.
This August, Papa Roach collaborated with country singer Carrie Underwood to re-record a new rendition of the song as a duet. All royalties from the new collaboration of the song will benefit AFSP.
In speaking about their work with AFSP, Shaddix commented "This issue doesn’t just affect one of us, or a few of us, it affects all of us. We’re proud to work alongside the AFSP to support their mission to bring hope to those affected by suicide, and proud that this song – which has been special to us since it was first written – can play a part in bringing a little more light to an incredibly important topic."

Long Island Ride to Fight Suicide

With support from Ghost Ryderz Extreme Motorcycle Club and Miller's Ale House, AFSP Long Island will be hosting it's first ever motorcycle rally! The event will take place on Saturday, September 7th, beginning at Miller's Ale House in Deer Park and finishing at Miller's Ale House in Levittown. Registration will begin at 8:30 am and kick stands go up at 10:45 am. Registration is $25 per person and includes breakfast and a patch. There will be raffles, 50/50, and merchandise for sale at the event. If you raise $100, you get a free event t-shirt! For more information or to register for this event, click the button below! |

LI Music Artist Trenches Raises Mental Health Awareness with Clothing Line "Rise"

Trenches is an electronic music artist hailing from Long Island, New York. Trenches curated his first custom-made, high quality merchandise line, titled “Rise,” with portions of profits supporting local mental health organizations. The message that Rise and Trenches spreads is one of hope and courage, bringing light to darker journeys we all face when challenged with hardship, trauma, loss, and more. Rise has naturally chosen to partner with AFSP-LI for its first donation, highlighting the cohesiveness between the two entities missions: suicide prevention and mental health awareness.
Trenches and Rise will be sponsoring a team at the Long Island Out of the Darkness Walk on October 27th and a portion of every t-shirt and sweater sale will be donated towards this team. You can reach the Rise clothing shop through Instagram using the button below!

Team Event Spotlight: Casino Night!

Team Live Like Lexi will be hosting a Casino Night Fundraiser on Thursday, September 26th as their team fundraiser for this year's Out of the Darkness Walk! We asked their team to share a little bit about the inspiration behind the event:
"As we come together to celebrate the spirit of giving and community, we are excited to announce our Casino Night, a tribute to a remarkable individual whose life was a testament to joy and generosity. Lexi's legacy is not just about the memories we hold dear but also about the way she lived her life—full of enthusiasm, kindness, and an unshakeable commitment to spreading happiness wherever she went.
Lexi had a unique gift for brightening any room she entered. Whether it was participating in fundraisers or just sharing a laugh, Lexi’s presence was a beacon of joy. Her love for seeing others happy, especially at events dedicated to worthy causes, was a defining characteristic of her life.

Team Event Spotlight: Contour Mortgage Brewery Night

The team from Contour Mortgage, in partnership with The Korman Frade Team, will be hosting a brewery night at Six Harbors Brewing in Huntington on September 25th to raise awareness for suicide prevention and raise funds for their Long Island Out of the Darkness Walk team! We asked them to share a bit about their inspiration behind the event and here's what they said:
